Our gardens are designed using indigenous and climate-adapted plants that naturally require less water and maintenance. This approach reduces water consumption, supports local biodiversity, and allows the landscape to grow in harmony with Zanzibar’s natural ecosystem.

Our team organizes regular weekly beach cleanings to protect marine life and keep the coastline clean. Not just for guests, but for the community and future generations.

Our laundry operations use biodegradable, bio-based chemicals, reducing water pollution and protecting both marine life and human health.

We actively support local families by covering school fees, uniforms and essential materials for around 20–50 children every year. Education creates long-term impact, and we believe investing in the next generation is one of the most powerful ways to support the community.

To reduce pressure on local water resources, we use water-from-air systems that extract potable water from humidity in the air. A sustainable solution well-suited to Zanzibar’s climate.

From the food on our plates to the walls that surround us, everything at our hotel is sourced locally whenever possible.
We work closely with local farmers, fishermen, artisans, builders, and suppliers to ensure fresh, seasonal ingredients and construction materials that reflect the island’s resources.
By prioritizing local sourcing, we support the community, reduce transport emissions, and significantly lower our environmental footprint, while offering guests an experience that is truly rooted in Zanzibar.

We actively reduce waste by rethinking how materials are used across our property. From incorporating recycled plastic into construction, to minimizing single-use plastics through refillable amenities and reusable containers, every decision is made with impact in mind.
Through upcycling and creative reuse, materials like bottles, metal, and plastic waste are transformed into unique design and decorative elements, giving waste a second life while reducing the need for new raw materials.

Our rooms are designed with energy-saving systems that automatically reduce unnecessary electricity use, helping lower overall consumption without affecting guest experience.

We use solar energy to heat water, significantly reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

We collaborate with the Sazani Foundation on a coral restoration initiative, actively contributing to the protection and regeneration of Zanzibar’s fragile marine ecosystems.

We proudly support and sponsor important Zanzibari cultural events and festivals, helping preserve and promote authentic traditions, music and celebrations that are deeply rooted in the island’s identity. Some examples include Sauti Za Busara, Maulid, Mwaka Kogwa…

We have funded and built multiple water wells in nearby villages, giving families access to clean, safe drinking water.
